With Henley positively brimming with exciting things to see and do over the summer we thought it would be in good community spirit to turn the spotlight onto lesser known events in our latest blog. After all, we love Henley and all it has to offer residents and visitors. From art and craft to street food and from music to children’s activities, Henley really has it all this summer. Here is our handpicked list of events not to be missed over the next few months:
May Fair-Monday 6 th May: As if you didn’t know that there was a Bank Holiday this weekend… But you might not know what’s going on in town. The traditional Henley May Fair is back and it’s going to be fabulous! From the traditional May Pole Dance, Morris Dancing and singing to a “Jackanory” style reading in the council chamber and a tug o war competition featuring some of Henley’s favourite pubs and a certain Fire Station there is lots going on. Stonor Supercar Sunday May 19 th : Thought last year was something? Then just wait for Sunday 19 May. Stonor Supercar Sunday 2019 is all set to be bigger and better. The lush green lawns of Stonor House again filled with automotive stars— Everything from pioneering race cars to classic sportscars to modern hypercars—a tribute to passion, power and performance. Set in a sweeping valley at the heart of the beautiful Chiltern Hills lies Stonor House, home to the Stonor family for over 850 years.
And now home to an annual gathering of cars and car fans of all ages. Last year over 150 supercars wowed the crowds—from a pioneering 1932 Bugatti Type 55, two Ferrari 250 SWBs, a mint McLaren F1 and a fleet of modern hypercars including a Lamborghini Huracan Performante. The prestigious K500 called it a ‘Smash hit… where the many knowledgeable enthusiasts who’d flocked to the event experienced a real treat’. More than just cars… Upscale street food stalls, delicious gourmet picnics
and acres of children’s activities: the Stonor Wonder Woods Adventure Playground, fairground rides and Laser Tag.
Fawley Decorative Festival 31 st May: Visit the Fawley Decorative Fair 2019 to see and buy decorative antiques, salvage, vintage reclamation, gardenalia and textiles. The perfect place for designers to buy from the best and most unique collections and everyone and anyone to be inspired to start that unique project of their own. On Saturday and Sunday the Fawley Museum Society Trust will be volunteering their time and running the spectacular steam train. They will be offering rides in return for a small donation, the Fawley Railway Museum will also be open. All weekend there will be
fabulous food and beverage offerings from the Crooked Billet, delicious teas from Time for Tea and a selection of food vendors offering many mouth watering options to help keep you fuelled as you make your way around the Fawley Decorative Fair. A toe-tapping programme of live music will keep you shuffling and dancing throughout the weekend. A fantastic weekend for all the family.
Eat! Food Festival 15 th June- Saturday 29 th June: Coming to Henley for the first time we are excited to have the scrumptious Eat Food Festival. Over a period of two weeks the festival promises to showcase the very best in local food, drink and more. From cookery lectures in the famous Kenton Theatre, The Food Safari taking you round some amazing local restaurants trying their fab food and lots lots more, this two week festival will surely be one of the highlights of the summer.
